New HBP trailer on sight?
//By Raquel at Nov 27th 2008

The BBFC, which is responsible for the classification of the trailers and movies in the United Kingdom, updated yesterday the page of the movie Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince adding to the classification a new trailer with approximate duration of 1min and 52seg.
This possible new trailer - that would be the longest up to the moment-, differ in duration if compared to the others and it will have censorship PG what means it’s released for all the ages, however, recommended for older than 13 years.

The most recent trailer, that Potterish had the honor to publish, has a 12A censorship, what means that this media can be visualized only by children older than 12 years unless accompanied by their parents during the whole section. With this information we can wonder what this new trailer can bring to us. More romantic scenes? Comic scenes? Quidditch? Maybe…

Despite our great expectations and anxiety, we should wait for more information. Keep an eye on Potterish because a new trailer full of emotions can appear anytime!

Happy birthday, Potterish!
//By Marcelo at Nov 27th 2008

Today on November 27th, our website is celebrating its birthday! We are online for 6 years now, going to our 7th year. I believe that we’re one of the oldest websites still being updated in the Brazilian fandom, probably the oldest and the most popular.
Since its creation by Carmem and Luciana, 6 years ago, Potterish went through many changes, improving changes, of course. It’s been almost 3 years since we launched FeB, followed by the Grimmauld Place Board and the picture gallery and, after receiving the FSA from JK Rowling in Setptember 27th 2006, we renewed our energy beginning to work much harder in our content, updating the pages we already had online and introducing the dictionary Madame Pince which is, without any doubt, the best source for Potter in Portuguese language. Next, I started recording the Potterish cast, a project that underwent a hiatus for sometime but now it’s being produced again. We have many new stuff to come, we just need time to put them all online for you, our visitors who help us to stay online.

During those 6 years, we had amazing people in ourstaff; some of whom still work with us and others who needed to be away due to different personal demands. But all of them were essential for the construction and maintenance of the website and they deserve to be remembered by the current staff and also by our visitors. They finished their works on Ish but the friendship we built is for a lifetime.

Potterish needs all your support, so keep visiting our sections, commenting our news, reading our thousands of fanfics on FeB and taking part on the GP Board. I’d like to thank all the visitors in the name of our staff, that also deserves congratulations, because without the editors, newsposters, translators and writers -, we wouldn’t be here today! Congrats to the staff, to our visitors and congratulations Potterish, we hope to have a 7th year as great as our previous years!

ABC Family will show a special of HBP in December!
//By Raquel at Nov 24th 2008

In the last years the television channel ABC Family has been showing the Harry Potter movies in its Christmas special with 25 days of duration. But this information would not be very relevant if it wasn’t for a very tiny, but important detail.
This year the channel will be showing a selection of new scenes of the feature Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince during the transmission of an extended version and without cuts of the fourth movie in the television, Goblet of Fire.

To add to the magic, ABC Family will also be airing exclusive first looks at the new film, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” (opening in theatres July 17, 2009), throughout the weekend’s three-day event. Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson and Michael Gambon discuss the upcoming film’s exciting storylines, as well as revealing insider information. ABC Family’s first looks at the latest Harry Potter feature film also offer viewers a sneak peek of never before-seen footage of love running rampant through Hogwarts, a look into Tom Riddle’s past and an introduction of Hogwarts new [Potions] teacher, Professor Horace Slughorn.

The fourth movie of the series will be shown on December 7th – Sunday – at 19:30.

Potterish’s highest flights
//By Virag at Nov 20th 2008

Since July 11th, 2006, date on which the Potterish’s Editorial began, 84 texts have been posted, an average of 3.3 editorials a month. With peculiar characteristics, each editorial transmits a little of how our staff’s members write, as well as expatiates on popular or forgotten, polemical or unanimous themes from the Harry Potter series and from literature in general. Speaking out against this well articulated and incredibly apt in the art of gripping-writing group is not very encouraging. However, following the idea of our dear “retired” editor, the honorable Luis Nakajo, whose help was indispensable to the selection which originated in this editorial, I decided to try.

Here you’ll se the aforementioned and commented Potterish’s 10 highest flights. Far from undervaluing ones and aggrandizing others, the Top 10 – which isn’t in classificatory order – is like a retrospective, a memory of remarkable editions in the editorial office history of the website. Keep in mind that this list does not include all the Ish’s incredible editorialists, which doesn’t mean they haven’t flown as higher as well. Choosing only ten was a difficult task, there aren’t doubts about that.

Have a good time reading this. And don’t forget the parachute as prevention – folks from around here have achieved dangerous heights!

Thompson chooses leaving HP series and prioritizing her own film
//By Renan at Nov 11th 2008

For those who expected to see Sybill Trelawney throwing crystal balls all over Hogwarts in Deathly Hallows, awful news. Emma Thompson declined coming back to the series to play the Divination teacher for she decided to keep doing her own movie.
According to American MTV, when she was forced to choose between Harry Potter and Nanny McPhee franchises, the actress opted to keep her own project on.

“No, no, no, I’m making my own ‘Nanny McPhee’ next year. They mean much more to me.”

“The Harry Potters are great big franchises that are something I’m not emotionally attached to or necessarily particularly creatively attached to. That’s more like doing a turn, whereas the Nanny McPhees are something I’ve written. The art is in those films, they’re very handmade, they’re something that’s very close to me.”

It’s a pity that filming cronograms for Deathly Hallows and Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang coincide, for all of us expected that Thompson would present us, once again, her masterful actuation.
